North-south China train: information about railways in China

In 1997, the total length of rail lines opened to traffic in China had reached 66,000 kilometers, ranking firs in Asia, of which electrified lines total 11,999 kilometers, making China the ninth country in the world with more than 10,000 kilometers of electrified lines.

There are north-south and west east trunk rail lines. The north south line is having Beijing as its key link. It consists of Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing Kowloon Railway and Beijing Harbin Railway.
